Hey Chicos,
My boss lady here at Terra thought it'd be a good idea for me (your music editor) to share with you what I listen to on my day to day. You know, like when I am on my way to work, going back home, and... when I am working. This is kind of my life, listening to music and trying to figure out what you'll like. But, like you, I have band crushes of my own so I'll just share a playlist (muy variadita) for you to check out. Of course, "steal" ideas for your own playlists! (I do that all the time).
I've tried to include a little bit of EVERYTHING because my iPod is quite random. Oh yes! and let me know what YOU are listening to.
Shimmy Shimmy
Dancing is fun, and sadly I sometimes happen to be that person who walks down the street shaking my shoulders. For that kind of party I've been enjoying Daft Punk's Alive, Cut Copy's In Ghost Colours, Santogold's single Creator and a whole lotta M.I.A. She's amazing! Here's a clip for fun... reading about music and not listening to any is NOT FUN.
Oh Canada!
I have a thing for Canadian bands so I love Arcade Fire (like the whole planet) but Wolf Parade also rocks my socks off. Their song "Kissing the Beehive" from their upcoming album At Mount Zoomer (drops next Tuesday, I got it advanced!) has been driving me nuts! It clocks at 10:46 minutes but believe me, it's a mind explosion. Lead singer Spencer Krug is a dreamboat, and keyboard playing has never looked hotter in my book.
Crystal Castles, also from Canada, make old video game-like dance music (I'm talking Atari old) and they're also on heavy rotation when I want to dance (office chair-dance, this is possible) check out their remix of the Klaxons hit "Atlantis to Interzone."
Cerati For Life
Hmm, this should be no surprise since Soda Stereo's frontman is everyone's favorite argentino, BUT for some reason I've been on crazy Cerati-mode this past week. I think it has to do with some hot collaborations I've heard. One it's called "19" with former Ilya Kuryaki member Emmanuel Horvilleur (If you don't know him, don't worry, see post below) and the other one is this house-meets-tango track called "El Mareo" with the electro-tango collective Bajofondo. Check it out! I also got this advanced BUT Bajofondo's "Mar Dulce" album featuring El Mareo, Julieta Venegas, Nelly Furtado, La Mala Rodriguez (love her too) and other great collaborations drops July 15 so stay tuned!
Ohh, and the Julieta Venegas Unplugged is another disco rayao' for mi! Personally I think she did a great job and having friends like Gustavo Santaolalla (Oscar-winner, hello! frontguy from Bajofondo) didn't hurt her either.
This is getting a bit long, if you care to know more or find these posts useful, I will make sure to keep sharing with you what's in my iPod.
More of my favorites include: Radiohead, The Flaming Lips, Austin TV, Devendra Banhart, Bjork, and Cafe Tacvba!
Whoa! this is really hard, I have too many favorites
